This is a long awaited workshop for many people. My apologies for those who have enquired and have been told workshops will only commence late this year. Well it’s finally here! It’ll be at my new studio once I’ve settled in and organized stuff around. This workshop is planned to give participants a lot of opportunities to play with studio equipment. Playing means getting familiar and creative with the use of equipment.

This is ideal for everyone who wants to take their photography to the next level by controlling light and working with ambient light. Whether you intend to better appreciate photography, make money, shoot your pregnant wife or even shoot your growing child, you’ll find this workshop ideal. Besides using studio strobes and modifiers, you’ll be taught simple setups with portable flash(es) for a simple home portrait or location shoot. This is what makes this workshop a bit different since you won’t be taught only to use studio lights.

All the 4 sessions will be conducted in my studio after work, over 2 weeks. DSLRs are strongly advised although compact cameras with a hotshoe can also be used. Here’s the syllabus:

Session 1
What’s in a Studio?
- Introduction to studio lights and modifiers
- Exposure Techniques for Studio/Flash photography
- Organizing the Studio: what and who goes where
- Managing your images in a studio or on your notebook

Session 2
Getting your hands dirty!
- Hands on in setting up lights and backdrops
- Working with one light and building the light setup
- Using modifiers to shape light

Session 3
You run the show!
- Practical session where each participant gets a chance to setup, direct and shoot
- Review and Critique

Session 4
Mixing ambient light
- Take whatever you’ve learned outdoors
- Learn what camera settings to use to work with ambient light

At the end of the session each participant should be able to make quick decisions on what equipment to use, setup quickly and direct the subject. Critical skills needed for a successful shoot.

   I would like to come for your studio class but will be travelling for my second honeymoon.:)
   i have my own studio set up and learning to use it, would you be able to do a 1-2days crash course with me? Let me know if possible and the cost of that.
